Lynchburg men’s basketball routs Washington and Lee at home

Lynchburg Mascot Logo Lynchburg, Va. -

The Lynchburg College men’s basketball team improved to 5 – 3 in conference play yesterday knocking off Washington and Lee 88 – 63. Austin Chillemi and Brandan Connor each finished with 16 points for the Hornets, who have now won three of their last four Old Dominion Athletic Conference games.

Lynchburg shot out of the gate with a 24 – 2 run in the first eight minutes of the game, thanks to a pair of three’s from Robby Kaiser and poor shooting from the Generals. The Hornets continued the up-tempo play for the remainder of the half heading into the break with a 19 point lead.

The second half was all Lynchburg as the Hornets walked away with an 88 – 63 victory. Xavier Parham tallied eleven assists for the Hornets as he pushed his conference leading total to 101 on the year, an average of 6.3 a game. Nate Campbell also finished in double figures with 15 points on 6 – 9 shooting from the field.

Lynchburg now turns their focus to last year’s conference champ, Randolph – Macon, who comes to town Wednesday night. The Hornets dropped a nail biter to Macon on the road back on December 7 and will look to get revenge on their home court. In that contest, Macon withstood a late run from Lynchburg escaping with a three point victory. Chillemi posted a double – double with 14 points and ten boards while Parham finished with 16 points and 6 assists.

A win Wednesday will not be easy however as Macon (13 – 3 / 6 – 2) is currently on a seven game streak with the last four coming against conference opponents. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 pm in Turner Gymnasium.

  12. Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
